    A proud graduate of Michigan State University, Karen led the immigration law team at Miller Canfield for eight years before becoming Deputy Director at the Office for New Americans for the State of Michigan in 2014. Karen also serves as the Board President of Global Detroit, a non-profit organization that utilizes the experience of immigration as a means for economic growth in the city. Her extensive knowledge of law and her global perspective add a vital dimension to the New School High team. Karen was raised by two educators in Plymouth, Michigan and attended Salem High School, where she was a student in Cyndi Burnstein’s Humanities course. Karen moved back to Plymouth in 2000 where she lives with her son Tyler.
